Of course, the weather is not always glorious, sunny, windless and calm. We all know that, but this makes a true Scottish experience, when it changes often, isn’t it?
More, on the days when it’s windy ospreys are often out, hunting. On rainy days otters and beavers can easier hide their swimming from any predators, visitors.
Saying this, we love sunny days out of course 🙂
So why kayaking (canoeing could work as well or paddle boarding)?
Firstly, your comfort. You can outfit your boat, your seat so much cosier than a standard chair on a power boat, cruise ship… It will be closer to all your goodies brought along, for example a camera, drink, sun-cream (?!), snacks.
Then next, is being more eco friendly – you will feel better about yourself not leaving a carbon footprint in the fragile eco system you are about to explore. Yes, it might be a hard going when kayaking in Scotland it’s very windy, but it’s worth it…
Staying healthier. Sport is good, we all know it, but more importantly improves also our mental health. Floating down the river, exploring lochs or Scottish coast from the kayak, being closer to nature, admiring wildlife… what a day out heh?
Finally of course is the unique experience due to staying nearly silent, allowing you to float even in shallow waters closer to the river, loch, sea bank without disturbing anything and just watch…
And what can you see? We often come across salmon leaping out next to us, beavers diving, otters swimming nearby, a passing kingfisher, ospreys hunting or even dolphins. All this withing a Tayside region as well!!!
