When I launched Outdoor Explore back in 2014 I always wanted to inspire more people to try the paddle sport. Our guided tours and coaching sessions are already filling up, yet I just added some trips and tuition for FREE.
We have three exciting opportunities for you to check:

The Paddle Safer Award with Outdoor Explore
We strongly believe anybody new to paddling should have access to basic safety skills and knowledge-based courses. Outdoor Explore is one of the British Canoeing Delivery Partners and we would like to offer the Paddle Safer Award for FREE!
This course is for anyone new to paddle sport, in any craft (your own or you can hire one of our crafts). It’s ideal for paddlers wanting to be safer when paddling in sheltered environments. The Paddle Safer Award will be delivered in a very friendly and fun way, by an experienced tutor.
During the two hours course, we will provide you with
- Confidence
- Raise awareness of safety
- Cover rescues specific to your craft
- Knowledge of where to take your learning next, if you wish to follow such a path

‘Feel Good Paddle’ with Outdoor Explore
One aim, is to help you feel good. This of course could mean so many different things to all of us.
We will be offering a FREE paddle in Dundee, at least once a month, and this time it’s all about your mental health, for each of us…
Do you want to chat? Let’s talk, we will listen. Do you feel like sitting quietly and relaxing? Perfect, we will provide you with the right space. Do you wish to go on a short journey? Naturally, we can add this too. Don’t expect a fast pace or even a medium pace. We will paddle slowly, relax, watch, listen, and simply take it all in…

- you must be a subscriber to our emailing list
- If you are bringing your own kit, it must be safe and appropriate for the venue, we will have some spare if we don’t think yours is suitable.
- you can hire a full set of kit for £10. If you just need part of the kit (e.g. buoyancy aid), please ask for hire prices.
‘Litter Free Paddle’ with Outdoor Explore
This is a campaign we run for as long as we operate. Feeling privileged to paddle in so many amazing places we do our little bit to help to protect it.
This guided tour is 2-2.5 hours long and the only expectation is that you recharge your mind in the beautiful surroundings on this slow-paced journey. All paddling equipment will be provided.
We have three trips planned for 2023 at this moment:
- Loch Faskally – Pitlochry – 9th March – 1.00 pm start
- River Tay – Perth – 31st May – 10.00 am start
- Forfar Loch – Forfar – 7th October – 10.00 am start
All paddling equipment will be provided. There is a selection of single and double kayaks (even Canoe or Paddleboard by request) to choose from depending on experience and weather conditions.
The trip is suitable for those 7 years and older. All that you need to bring is some warm clothes for the weather, including shoes you don’t mind getting wet. No previous kayaking experience is needed. Please get in touch for further details. We will be in touch a few days before the trip with more detailed information, including the meeting point, chosen to suit us best for the weather conditions at the time.
Litter Free Paddle gathered some amazing volunteers over the years. Since 2014 we have collected nearly 5 tonnes of rubbish from various locations in Tayside.
As we are not a charity we were never unable to receive any funding covering any of our costs, so if you can support us and buy us some coffee, that would be truly amazing!!!
